Marvel just told Whoopi Goldbert that their new character will be a woman version of Thor. The internet exploded and here we are thinking, “Well, that’s different!” But where are all the movies with superheroes who are actually women? The last time we had something resembling a superheroine was Elektra and that was nine years ago! Spiderman could use a Spiderwoman. Batman has his Batgirl. Storm built up such a great fanbase that it’s tragic Halle Berry doesn’t have her own hero movie out now. Hollywood should shake off the grudge against girl power and look at these 15 celebrities who can save the world.

It was a dark and stormy night when Wolverine got his own movie but Halle Berry never got to star in her own Storm movie. Oh, the humanity! Storm is always kicking butt in video games, comic books, and movies. According to the internet, the character Storm was born from a line of African witch-priestesses, has the ability to control the weather, and has a ruby that allows inter-dimensional transportation.

Scarlett Johansson probably knew that Marvel would never make a “Black Widow” movie so she went out on her own and made the lesser known superhero movie called Lucy which comes out this year. Black Widow is a Russian agent trained as a spy, martial artist, and sniper. She is also an accomplished ballerina! Black Widow meets Black Swan in the next deadly movie about dancing your way to the top.

Jennifer Lawrence already conquered Hollywood with “The Hunger Games.” Why not capitalize on the Mystique character from the X-men movies and give her a movie? You get all the fans from “The Hunger Games” and the X-Men franchise pouring their wallets into the big bowl of movie money. Mystique is blue. Blue mixed with yellow is green. Green is the color of all the money Marvel could make if they just have her a chance.

When Anna Paquin is not busy making out with vampires on “True Blood,” she’s turning her hair white for the role of Rogue in the X-Men movies. Rogue involuntarily absorbs the memories, physical strength, and superpowers of anyone she touches. She had an on-off love interest with Gambit so this is a good chance for a romantic comedy. We all had to sit through the sad, tragic affair of the love triangle known as Iceman, Ellen Page, and Rogue so at least give us a Mr. and Mrs. Smith type of movie with Rogue and Gambit.

Okay, Ellen Page with a ponytail has all the right ingredients for a delicious feast of a movie. From indie star to Hollywood heroine, the character Kitty Pryde has been moving in and out of the walls of our movie-loving hearts. The perfect script for Marvel would be Kitty Pryde passing through the walls of the cronut bakery to find out how they really make those donuts with croissants. Food Network meets the X-Men in this powerful pastry movie.

Catwoman was allegedly taught how to fight while she was a prostitute and Catwoman after seeing Batman in action. Anne Hathaway worked those muscles into shape for the role in The Dark Knight Rises and gave fans of the Devil Wears Prada a new lease on life. Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway could band together and make a movie where they’re both Catwoman. The fiercest whiplash battle could determine the winner and the prize is a trip to those Japanese cat cafes.

Gamora is one of the protagonists in the upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy. She is played by Zoe Saldana and is known as “the deadliest woman in the whole galaxy.” She has enhanced speed, strength, agility, and durability. So she’s like an alien Superman. McDonald’s could have fun with a Gamora movie by putting out alien happy meal toys and making planet shaped chicken nuggets. Wendy’s has great nuggets too.

Elektra, also known as Jennifer Garner, was born in Greece and became the chief assassin of a New York City crime lord. She supposedly learned ancient martial arts from China, Siam, and Japan so this is a great opportunity for whoever produced that samurai movie with Keanu Reeves to make the girl version of that. Jennifer Garner knows Ellen Page from working with her on the movie “Juno” so they could also make a Kitty Pryde/Elektra movie. Juno gets pregnant again and Elektra comes to save her from herself.

“Where are you, Invisible Woman?” asked a random guy. “I’m right here!” said the invisible woman. “But I can’t see you,” said the man. “That’s because I’m invisible, dude. Haha, the joke’s on you,” said the invisible woman. This character, who has been played by Jessica Alba in “Fantastic Four,” can make herself invisible. She can also cause her opponents to explode and Doctor Doom said she is the most powerful member of her group. It’s up to the actress Kate Mara to petition for her own movie now since she’s taking on the role.

She can shine bright like a diamond. Rihanna needs to get in on this Emma Frost goldmine. Emma Frost, played by January Jones in that X-Men movie we all know about, can control your minds just like subliminal messages in the yogurt commercials. She was transforming her body into a diamond during that X-Men movie but her talents also include telekinesis and astral projection. In the comics she wears a lot of winter wear so this is a potential cash grab for Christmas movies like “Santa meets the White Queen Emma Frost” and “Frosty the Snowman battles Emma Frost for the frosty throne.”

Hit-Girl is a costumed superhero and assassin who has the ability to take a bullet, fight with bladed weapons and is a little girl. In “Kickass,” the actress Chloe Grace Moretz was given permission by her mother to say all of the bad words used in the dialogue. Moretz was also in the movies “The Amityville Horror,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” and “500 Days of Summer.” The Hit-Girl movie could involve Zooey Deschanel for no reason at all. Hit-Girl versus New Girl.

Jean Grey has telepathic powers, can fly, and comes back from the dead to be a fiery phoenix god-like thing. She apparently graduated college as well so you know she’s got some book smarts to her. Professor Jean Grey looked pretty realistic in those X-Men movies so where are all of those “Nutty Professor Jean Grey” spin-offs starring Eddie Murphy and Famke Janssen as the powerful duo saving the world from themselves?

Liz Sherman, played by Selma Blair in the Hellboy movies, has pyrokinetic powers and thought that her powers were a result of her sins. The Catholic community could really get behind a character like this since Liz was raised Catholic and she prayed to keep the urges away. Also, Selma Blair was in that movie with Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde. There’s money to be made from the potential spin-off called,” Scorchingly Blonde: Liz Sherman’s new hairstyle.”

Come back to us, Alicia Silverstone! The world needs Batgirl to turn that frown upside down and don’t let Iggy Azalea have the last laugh in that “Fancy” video inspired by your movie “Clueless.” Put that rubber suit back on and save Gotham from people who have never had the pleasure of a girl shouting “As If!” while walking through the halls of high school with Stacy Dash in a weird hat that could be worn at the Kentucky Derby.

In the CW show “Smallville,” there was a character named Kara who wore daisy dukes and time traveled to unknown places. that was actually a version of Supergirl! The last time there was a film for Supergirl was in 1984 when she was played by Helen Slater. Supposedly she is not related to Christian Slater so don’t even go there. Ever since 1984, Superman has starred in the big screen for two movies, “Superman Returns” and “Man of Steel.” Meanwhile, the Supergirl comics are crying out for gender diversity in Hollywood.
