15 Drunk Celebrities Getting DUIs
What do DUIs have to do with awkward celebrity interviews on the Oscars red carpet? They have so much to do with each other that it’s like a perfect cause and effect relationship. If you have been following the trainwreck that is the horrible questions asked of the Oscars attendees before and after the show, you’ll know that the celebrities would probably want to get drunk after going through the ordeal of all of those try-hard questions. It’s hard to think about questions but these interviewers just kept asking about what they were wearing and the after parties of the award ceremony. Somebody get the limousine ready and quickly!
Amanda Bynes was arrested on a DUI charge in September 2014 while she was driving in Sherman Oaks, California. California Highway Patrol officers saw her driving her white Mercedes Benz SUV when she stopped for a red light in the middle of an intersection. She then failed multiple field sobriety tests and was taken to the West Valley CHP office for evaluation by a drug recognition expert. Wow, they even called upon an expert for her! Be grateful, Bynes.
Reese Witherspoon looked pretty good in her mug shot. She had blonde hair when she was in the audience at the 2015 Oscars, having been nominated for her role in “Wild.” But in 2013 she had brown hair and looked sleepy in her DUI mug shot. “I think it was a moment where people realized that I wasn’t exactly what they thought I was. It was just one of those nights. We went out to dinner and had one to many glasses of wine,” she told ABC. At least they owned up to it.
Take the red or blue pill but don’t take the drink, Neo! In 1993, Keanu Reeves was arrested for drunk driving. He had his “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” long hair and was released after his confession. He was supposedly driving recklessly. The next year he was in the movie “Speed” where he starred in a big action film for the first time. In 2015, he will star in a movie called “Knock, Knock” where he is a married man who has two beautiful girls show up at his house.
Don’t laugh at Kevin Hart’s pain in his movie “Laugh At My Pain” because he got arrested on suspicion of DUI after he had a near-miss on a freeway in 2013. The California Highway Patrol said they he was driving erratically, going 90 MPH and almost collided with a gas tanker. He pleaded no contest to the charges after he was arrested for driving at twice the legal limit of alcohol. He got three years of probation and had to take three months of alcohol education classes.
Michelle Rodriguez was driving fast and furiously in the “Fast and Furious.” Then she pleaded guilty to DUI charges in 2006. The Kaneohe Disctrict Court in Oahu said she had to choose between 240 hours of community service or five days in jail. She chose jail time. Guess somebody doesn’t like to do community service! She also made up the excuse that she’d learned to drive only for a “racing movie.” Yeah right! If you can read a script, you can read the speed limit. Come on, Michelle, you knew better.
Jaime Pressly served three years of summary probation and was required to attend a six month alcohol education class after she pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges in 2011. Police said her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit of .08. Pressly is in the clear nowadays but she is currently suing her former accountant for a gardening fiasco. She wants Daniel Rivero to pay up $900,000 and punitive damages.
Backstreet’s back in a documentary called “Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made of” that aired last month but Nick Carter was busted in Southern California for drunk driving. Looks like Nick was not at his brother Aaron’s house and was with friends at a restaurant in Huntington Beach. He was then stopped by police after he pulled out of a parking structure and went down Main Street. He allegedly failed a sobriety test. This is not the test you want to fail!
The one and only Natasha Lyonne is going to speak at Northwestern University as the Hillel’s winter speaker. What are you going to speak about, Natasha? The time when you were arrested for a DUI in 2001? All jokes aside, Lyonne was hilarious as the snarky inmate in “Orange is the New Black” and she will probably be a smash hit at the speaking event for all of the students. “We think they will be interested in hearing about how an individual like Natasha balanced her Jewish identity with also being a Hollywood celebrity,” said student Julia Rudansky.
Khloe was arrested in 2007 for driving under the influence and served only a couple of hours due to overcrowding in the jail. Tweets ranged from scathing to disapproving. “I am not sure which is the most ignorant: Khloe Kardashian using DUI photos or @peoplemag actually sharing this. I mean really?” tweeted RYDinky. Khloe did have to do some community service and look at injured people who were involved in drunk driving accidents!
Craig “I was Darryl from Dundler Mifflin” Robinson was charged with two felonies, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor DUI in 2008. Officers from the Culver City Police Department found drugs in his car and said he was under the influence of amphetamines, cocaine, and cannabinoids. Robinson posted the $10,000 bail after his arrest and went to court. Does he miss his days from being on “The Office?” “I miss Darryl and everythin’ about playing him,” said Robinson.
He might see dead people in the movie “The Sixth Sense” but can he see a DUI arrest coming his way? Haley Joel Osment was charged with three misdemeanors including driving under the influence in 2006. His blood alcohol content was double the legal limit at .16 according to the DA Jane Robinson. He was driving a 1995 Saturn in Los Angeles and hit a mailbox on a brick base before flipping over. Poor guy broke a rib but made a full recovery.
The world watched as Chris Pine shed a single tear down his stone cut face at the 2015 Oscars after John Legend and Common performed “Glory.” Maybe he was feeling emotions that stemmed from his New Zealand drunken driving incident in 2014. He told police that he had four vodka drinks before they pulled him over and suspended his license. New Zealand has a legal limit of .08 and his level was .11 that night. He was fined $79 dollars too.
On 2006, Mel Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. He launched an expletive-laden barrage of anti-Semitic remarks that got him into a whole lot of trouble. Gibson apologized for his despicable behavior, citing “a moment of insanity.” But there’s more to the story. Deputy James Mee said his record was spotless until he pulled Gibson over that unlucky night. Mee claimed that department managers blamed him for leaking details of Gibson’s arrest.
Jeffrey Donovan from “Burn Notice” was playing with metaphorical fire when he was swerving on the road near a cop car. After they pulled him over, he said he didn’t see the red light. He had some drinks at the Fontainebleau Hotel and it got to him. He was sentenced to six months probation and fined more than $1,000. Too bad he wasn’t Chris Pine who only got fined over $100!
Paris Hilton was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher in 2006. She was driving a silver Mercedes-Benz SLR in Hollywood and was briefly handcuffed. She told Ryan Seacrest that she drank one margarita at an event and was on her way to a fast-food restaurant with Rod Stewart’s daughter. She then was ordered to go to a women’s jail in Lynwood and was not allowed any special privileges.
